METC Pharmacy Training Lab named in honor of late program director
The Catoe family cuts the ribbon to the newly named Catoe Lab at the Medical Education and Training Campus Pharmacy Technician program during a ceremony Dec. 8 in honor of Air Force Col. John Catoe, METC's second pharmacy training program director, while Lt. Col. Darryl McGuire, Pharmacy Director at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, who served with Catoe, as the METC Army Service Lead, unveils the dedication plaque. Army and Navy students in the Medical Education and Training Campus Preventive Medicine program examine insects and learn about their relationship to humans, the environment, and other organisms in the entomology laboratory. As part of their training, students are prepared to perform various entomological functions in support of insect and rodent control programs. Graduates are certified in DoD Pesticide Application through the Armed Forces Pest Management Board.

METC Program Creates Path to College Degrees
Master Sgt. Adrian Welch, the Army Reserve Senior Career Management Non-Commissioned Officer at the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence, earned two college degrees through the METC Degree Bridge program. Welch took advantage of the program years after graduating from the Army’s 91W Healthcare Specialist course (now the 68W Combat Medic Specialist Training Program) in July 2003, several years before METC was established.
