<description>Army and Navy students in the Medical Education and Training Campus METC Preventive Medicine program practice identifying ticks, mites, and fleas in the entomology laboratory. During the entomology portion of their training, students examine insects and learn about their relationship to humans, the environment, and other organisms. In addition, they learn how to identify, survey, and use Integrated Pest Management, or pest control, to mitigate medically important arthropods, preparing them to perform various entomological functions in support of insect and rodent control programs. Graduates are certified in DoD Pesticide Application through the Armed Forces Pest Management Board.

The Preventive Medicine program is a joint program that lasts 24 weeks for the Navy and 16 Weeks for the Army. The Entomology portion lasts 17 days.
