Council on Occupational Education lauds METC for ‘world-class’ tech training

Former USS Cole command master chief visits Navy students, METC staff
September 27, 2018 — Oct. 12, 2000 was a day retired Command Master Chief James Parlier will never forget. The retired Navy hospital corpsman was serving as the command master chief, the highest enlisted crew member, of the USS Cole when it was attacked while being refueled in Yemen’s Aden harbor. Medical Education and Training Campus partners with Air Force, Navy for hurricane relief
September 25, 2017 — The devastation of Hurricane Harvey may be one of the worst storms in recent memory. Thousands have been left with only the clothes on their back, questioning when and how they will get be able to move past the destruction. Like a call to arms, volunteers from the Medical Education and Training Campus, Naval Medical Training Support Center, and the 59th Training Group at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston took action. They worked diligently to collect non-perishable food items, clothing, blankets, shoes, diapers, pet food, and other items... MORE

Air Force, Navy and civilian volunteers from the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC), 59th Training Group, and Navy Medicine Training Support Center (NMTSC) load donations collected for victims of Hurricane Harvey onto a truck for transportation to the sorting area Sept. 19. In all, the team collected and donated 450 pounds of food to the San Antonio Food Bank, $3,300 in donated diapers to the Diaper Bank, $19,000 in clothing and incidentals to the Salvation Army, and numerous donations to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and homeless shelters.

Alonzo Gonzales, a combat medic program emergency medical technician course instructor at the Medical Education and Training Campus at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, lectures students in Alpha Class 70-17 about different obstetrics complications utilizing a specialized OB training manikin. The OB manikins resemble life-size pelvic cavities inside which the “fetus” can be positioned to replicate any number of complicated situations.
