METC Program Creates Path to College Degrees

Master Sgt. Adrian Welch, center, once an instructor for the U.S. Army 68W Phase 3 Advanced Leaders Course, grades Soldiers conducting trauma lane training. Welch, now the Army Reserve Senior Career Management Non-Commissioned Officer at the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence, earned two college degrees through the METC Degree Bridge program. Welch took advantage of the program years after graduating from the Army’s 91W Healthcare Specialist course (now the 68W Combat Medic Specialist Training Program) in July 2003, several years before METC was established.

WWE wrestling Superstars Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans provide medical care to a combat "casualty", a mannequin with "traumatic" injuries, during a tour of the Medical Education and Training Campus Combat Medic Specialist Training Program. The tour was part of a visit to Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston January 26, and included a visit to other METC programs.

English is an instructor in the Medical Education and Training Campus Radiologic Technologist program on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

METC Student Awarded Navy and Marine Corps Medal

Rear Adm. Cynthia Kuehner, commander of Naval Medical Forces Support Command, presnets Hospital Corpsman William T. Ericson the Navy and Marine Corps Medal in recognition for acts of non-combat heroism during a ceremony recently at the Navy Medicine Training Support Center. While off-duty hiking at the Cabrillo National Monument on May 2, 2021, Ericson observed an adrift vessel with more than 30 distressed passengers near the rocky shoreline. As the vessel was dashed against boulders in six-foot seas, multiple people abandoned the boat in the 60-degree water. (US Navy Photo)
